(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = Samsung Electronics has expanded its connected car and home services by introducing a new “Car-to-Home” function in partnership with Hyundai Motor and Kia, enabling users to control home appliances directly from their vehicles.

The new feature allows users to remotely operate connected home devices such as air conditioners, air purifiers, robot vacuum cleaners, and lighting through the SmartThings app installed in the vehicle infotainment system.

The service will be available to customers using Hyundai Motor’s Bluelink and Kia Connect, and can be used in vehicles equipped with the ccNC infotainment platform. Samsung said the scope of application is expected to widen through future software updates.

The service also includes location-based automation. When a vehicle approaches the user’s residence, an “arriving home” mode is activated, turning on devices such as lights and air purifiers. Conversely, when the vehicle moves beyond a certain distance, an “away” mode is triggered to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
