(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Korean Air pursues technical cooperation with Collins Aerospace(hereinafter referred to as Collins), an affiliate of U.S. defense company Raytheon(RTX), to improve the performance of the Korean military’s UH-60 helicopters.

Korean Air and Collins signed a memorandum of understanding(MOU) for cooperation on the development of UH-60 helicopter performance improvement at the ‘2023 Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition(Seoul ADEX 2023)’ held at Seoul Airport in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the morning of the 18th.

The UH-60 is a military helicopter known as the Black Hawk. This performance improvement project is intended to continuously operate the special operations helicopters of the Korean Army and Air Force and improve their operational capabilities.

Collins is a company specializing in military aircraft, space systems and manufacturing, and carries out business in various fields such as avionics, mechanical parts, power, control, and mission systems. In particular, it has been responsible for performance improvements, including the digitization of the cockpit of the MH-60, the U.S. military’s UH-60 special operations helicopter.

Korean Air has all the technology and expertise required to build, modify and maintain the UH-60. In 1990, it started producing UH-60s domestically and has successfully delivered more than 130 units. Currently, it is also carrying out depot maintenance of UH-60s operated by the Korean military.
