(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has secured additional supply of SMR(small module nuclear power plants), laying the groundwork for expansion of SMR equipment manufacturing business.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed an agreement for additional equity investment at Doosan Tower in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 20th with John Hopkins, NuScale Power Chairman and Geewon Park, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Chairman & Chief Executive Officer attending.

Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction decided to invest an additional 60 million dollars(69.84 billion won) with South Korean investors after investing 44 million dollars(KRW 50.661.6 billion) in NuScale Power in 2019.


Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will expand the supply of equipment and materials to trillion won, including the previously secured supply volume and the supplies secured through this investment. In addition, the two companies agreed to expand cooperation in the field of hydrogen and freshwater production using SMR.

The first project in which Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and NuScale Power collaborate is expected to be a project being pursued by UAMPS(Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems), a US power generation company, in Idaho.

The project is progressing smoothly, with the UAMPS signing an EPC preparation contract with Fluor, the parent company of NuScale Power, at the end of last year after the DOE announced a $1.4 billion(approximately 1.6 trillion won)support plan in October last year.
