(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong will be on a tour of the U.S. through the middle of this month, inspecting the company's operations and holding relay meetings with U.S. political and business leaders.

According to Samsung Electronics on June 6, Chairman Lee Jae-yong met with Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg in New York on Thursday(local time) to discuss cooperation in the next-generation telecommunications field and sales of new Galaxy products.

Lee left the country on May 31 and has been holding a series of meetings with CEOs of major U.S. IT, AI, semiconductor and telecommunications companies, including Verizon, as well as government officials.

This business trip is intended to strengthen cooperation and discover new growth engines, and is scheduled to cover around 30 events until mid-June.

On this day, Chairman Lee and CEO Vestberg exchanged opinions on overall business, including ▲technology and service plans utilizing AI, ▲prospects for next-generation communication technology, ▲strategy to increase customer value through technological innovation, ▲cooperation to expand the Android ecosystem for Verizon customers, and ▲cooperation to expand sales of new Galaxy products in the second half of the year.

In particular, joint promotions for new Galaxy products and ways to experience the AI ​​functions of new Galaxy models in Verizon stores were also discussed.

“Let’s do what everyone does better than anyone else, and let's do what no one does before anyone else,” Lee said at the meeting.

Samsung Electronics plans to strengthen its cooperation with Verizon, one of its five largest sales partners and the world’s largest mobile carrier, to foster the next-generation communications business.
