(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Electronics has refuted foreign media reports that it has failed tests to deliver HBMs to US chipmaker Nvidia.

Samsung Electronics announced today that it is ‘progressing well in testing with various global partners to supply high-bandwidth memory(HBM)’.

‘We are currently working closely with a number of companies to continuously test the technology and performance,’ Samsung said in an official statement, adding, ‘We are conducting various tests to thoroughly verify the quality and performance of HBM.’

Citing multiple anonymous sources, Reuters reported on this day that Samsung Electronics failed the Nvidia graphics processing unit(GPU) test.

Samsung Electronics’ HBM3E 8-layer and 12-layer products failed the Nvidia HBM delivery test last month due to problems such as heat generation and power consumption.

According to Reuters, Samsung has been running Nvidia quality assurance tests since last year and has yet to pass them.

In addition, this media outlet expressed concern that if Samsung Electronics’ delivery to NVIDIA is delayed, it may fall further behind competitors such as SK Hynix and Micron Technology.

Some in the industry also reported that NVIDIA recently rejected Samsung Electronics’ offer to supply HBM3 and granted additional improvement period.

In response, Samsung Electronics said, ‘We cannot disclose the details of our discussions with our customers, but the rumours are not true.’
